Your stories aren’t that great, it’s just that it’s so niche that there isn’t much competition, so people just settle for your trash. You’re a fairly competent writer, fine- but certainly not the best. The majority of your followers don’t even really read your blog. How you suckered in 100 people to pay your rent is beyond me, but these are the same people who also buy condoms full of shit from tweakers online, so I guess it’s not that crazy.

See? And here I was expecting someone to at least be clever enough to be all:

“You hate capitalism, and yet you use capitalism to make money off your shitty writing? How do you respond to that charge of hypocrisy?”

Also, since I live near Seattle, my rent is way more than what I collect through Patreon. Must be nice wherever you are.

But trust me, I’m under no illusions. I’m not the greatest writer in the world, I’m competent. The vast majority of people who read my stuff couldn’t care one whit about me as a person, which is why you all get so fucking incensed as soon as I start responding to asks. 

Some people still give a fuck about art, I guess. Some people can appreciate the fact that people should be able to be paid for the labor they put in, and some people are genuinely appreciative of the writing I put out, and I appreciate them for caring. I consider myself to be damn lucky to make even the small amount that I do make, and I hope I provide enough extra stuff for them to feel like it’s worthwhile. I hope they know how much it matters to me.

Caring seems like a hard thing for you to do though. You should work on that, you’ll feel better, trust me.
