*Sigh*
I do apologize for the shift in tone, but I’m in the midst of exploring some different sides of the genre and writing in general, so I hope you’ll manage to hang on for a little bit. And yeah, anti-porn is exactly the term for it (though it still gets me off, so maybe I’m just weird) .
It doesn’t help that I’ve been in a pretty horrific headspace for the last few months. I’ve been dealing with some anxiety issues which are compounded by real life troubles, the capstone being the death of my car on the side of the road, a six thousand dollar repair bill more than the worth of the car, and no insurance coverage. I’m dealing with it poorly, but things are getting better slowly.
At the end of the day though, anti-porn like sketches #7 and #3 are transformation stories–they just fall into the conventional category rather than the fantastical. That doesn’t make them any less depressing in their own ways, but I’ve grown tired of writing about “archetypes” instead of “characters”, and I’m trying to eschew them a bit, which is easier said than done. Hopefully, in time, I’ll be able to deliver a transformation story with strong characterization that will also give everyone some satisfaction, so fingers crossed.
So try not to begrudge me my experiments I guess? It’s all in the name of better writing and better stories down the road, so consider it that way I suppose. I wish I’d found something decent to point you all to in the mean time, but things have been pretty dry all around, aside from the few places I’ve already linked to. My best suggestion would be to peruse the archive–I’m sure you can find a few old gems you’d forgotten about in there. Goodness knows I do on occasion.
