I know this sounds weird, but I find the whole “horror porn” thing to be refreshing. I’ve seen some people try to sugarcoat the darker kinks. To be honest, fluffy cute stories and pictures of hypnosis, kidnapping, rape, etc. don’t work at all.

I agree. Every story in this genre ought to be a horror story–seeing people try to be humorous or light and fluffy never works out very well. But when readers realize that what they real are enjoying is literal rape, they tend to direct that disgust at the authors. I’ve gotten a lot of it and just shrug it off at this point, and they keep coming back. But I’m not about to shroud it in pretense for them.
