Does the popularity of certain stories over the others affects the themes of your future works? And out of curiosity what’s your most reblogged and liked post so far?

Things that are the most popular:

  • Incest – Incest gets stories another five to ten notes. Usually this is most apparent when it’s father / son. No one seems all that interested in brothers, or at least I write it so rarely that the trend hasn’t made itself apparent.
  • Leathermen – Especially with smoke and policemen. I can say that if it involves a leather clad policeman, again the note count will surge.

Beyond that, the type of stories tend to average out as far as number of notes, but depending on the type of story, I see very different groups of people liking or reblogging a story. Beyond that, it all kind of comes down to timing, and whether you can get a chain reaction going. My general average is to get ten to fifteen notes a caption, if that gives you a baseline.

I try not to write things based on what is popular with the base; that would be the fastest way to get stuck in a rut. I like surprising people and myself with new, strange fetishes and stories, and I try not to worry too much about who likes what.

As for the most popular posts, this one is the definite winner, but since people hacked off the caption early on and have just been reblogging the photo, I disqualify it. That’s the case with several of the top few actually. The highest I consider legitimate is a tie between these two according to tumbalyze, but that site is so glitchy I wouldn’t really trust it. Also, since a lot of my earlier captions were all reblogs rather than original posts, I can’t say I have a completely accurate survey either.
