Hmm ever thought about a story where someone is forcibly changed, but then it turns out that the “victim” is someone more powerful and inflicts that fate onto the assualter?

Hmmm…well, those stories aren’t too uncommon, but I tend to avoid them for a couple of reasons. First, they almost always feel a bit contrived. Person A with [insert power here] just so happens to try and change Person b with [insert more impressive power here]? It doesn’t seem all the likely, to be honest. Of course, that doesn’t mean every story like this is like that. Some can pull it off with a “student overcoming the master” plot progression, for example, but I don’t write that all that often. This is mostly because of problem two–that this structure tends to drift away from horror motifs fairly quickly. I like staying in the horror genre, but introducing a person with more power tends to rationalize power, not mystify/terrorize it. I know that doesn’t make much sense, maybe I’ll expand on this in a metawriting at some point.
