Who are your favorite writers? The ones who don’t write porn that is. Are any of your stories inspired by books you’ve read?

Favorite authors, in no particular order: Jim Butcher, Stephen King (the old stuff), Kurt Vonnegut, George Orwell, Ursula K. LeGuin, Erica Jong, M. John Harrison, Garth Nix, and Jeanette Winterson.  

I would say one book in particular stands out as an inspiration for this stuff, and that would be “The Lathe of Heaven” by Ursula K. LeGuin. In it, a man whose dreams manifest as reality is hijacked by a hypnotist, who tries to use the man’s powers to make the world perfect. Another, lesser influence would be Robin Cook’s “Invasion.”
